iD-ASIANS

Lelia Le

iD-ASIANS is an online platform that works to create a safe space for young East and Southeast Asian Canadians to explore their Asian identity and diasporic experiences. Designing spaces dedicated to this underrepresented group can support young Asian diasporas in performing identity work, strengthening their cultural connections, and finding a sense of belonging (Trieu, 2018, p. 522). Here, individuals will be able to delve into the Asian diaspora’s cultural experiences and learn more about noteworthy Asian Canadian figures and resources.

With the intention of uplifting this community, iD-ASIANS encourages individuals to share authentic stories, engage in open conversations, and support one another. Enabling members to contribute to their own representation allows for a great range of voices and experiences to be heard. This platform also aims to celebrate these individuals by highlighting their creative pieces and promoting community engagement by sharing relevant events in major Canadian cities. I hope that iD-ASIANS will contribute to elevating Asian representation and provide personal value to the Asian Canadian community.

Closing Statement

These past four years have undoubtedly been a journey. Throughout my education, I’ve had various opportunities to learn new skills and put them into practice on a wide range of projects, all while incorporating my personal style and interests into my work. It has been both challenging and thrilling to be presented with diverse creative problems to solve. This program has pushed me out of my comfort zone on several occasions, and I believe that going through these experiences has contributed significantly to my growth. As a result, I’ve been able to refine my skills and build my confidence as a designer. Moving forward, I’m eager to explore new concepts and areas of design, and I’m excited to continue to evolve in future projects and settings.
